Adding Users to LANDesk Managment Suite

I am getting  a message that some of the users must be added to a local LANDesk Security Group on the core before login will be permitted.

The users do not show up as in that group in the console, in fact nothing shows up when I select group members on the left. Windows shows them as being in this group.

What do I need to do to get them into this group?


Console Initialization Console win 32 and core server console

HI

 

I have problem to connect to core server frome a win 32 console and in the console server to. the log record is the following:

 

Console Initialization Error:  System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: Server was unable to process request. ---> System.Data.OleDb.OleDbException: Login failed for user 'USRSQL_LANDESK'.

Invalid connection string attribute

   at LANDesk.ManagementSuite.MBSDK.MBSDK.GetRights(Boolean clearCache)

what happened to real-time status in 9.5 console?

In my organization we create containers in the NETWORK TREE->DEVICES->PUBLIC DEVICES where we organize our computers according to department, lab, etc.  With LDMS 9.0 I used to be able to click on one of these containers and the console would refresh the status of each machine in the container.  Within a few seconds of clicking on a container I could see which machines were powered on, were remote control ready, had inventory data collected, etc.

 

Now with 9.5 I click on the same container and nothing happens.  I have to select a machine before its status is displayed.  It is also a much slower process to refresh status than before.

 

I thought 9.5 was supposed to do a better job with this but it almost seems to be a step backward.  Is this the normal behavior in 9.5 or am I experiencing something out of the normal parameters?

there is no binocular and no remote control on all devices in the view all devices.

So what does "<qt/>" mean when called in a Managed Script?

 

Here's an example...

Hi LANDesk Community,

     We have recently installed our first LANDesk Management Suite 8.8 Think Vantage Server and I am now trying to get the Remote Console Installed and working. I have installed the remote client though get the following error message "Console Initialization Error: invalid database version. please upgrade this core before attempting to connect to it using this console." when I try and login. Both the server and client have had SP3 installed and the Client reports version 8.80.0.249 on both the server and the remote workstation. Console works ok from the server no problems. If I type a invalid password I get a failure on authentication.

 

Server is Windows 2003 32Bit with a SQL Backend

Workstaion is a Windows XP SP3 32Bit with .Net 2.0 SP2, .NET 3.0 SP2 and 3.5 SP1 installed and TVT tools. Fresh install of Windows XP with no other applications installed.

SQL MDVERSION from METASYSTEMS reports version is 8.80.3.1

 

There is no firewalls between the the Server/Workstation/SQL Server either.

 

     Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Should the SP1 upgrade for the console not also install the console? Otherwise you would nead to install the previous version and then upgrade it?


Query's for finding Critical Microsoft Patches

Hi,

 

The LANDesk query tool had/has this really handy option were you could search for the latest patches by vulnerabilty ID. The latest Microsoft Vulnerabilty ID's stretch from MS12-050 - MS12-060. But there doesn't seem to be those options select from in the query tool, even if I type in manulaly it will not find any machines even though I know there are plenty of machines out there with these current patches.

 

New Query - Patch and Compliance Definitions - Vulnerability ID -

Is anyone able to help or point me in the right direction towards reporting on the latest Microsoft patches other than manully searching for each KB?

Unable to connect on landesk console.

Landesk 9.5 SP2

Core server: Windows 2008 R2

 

Hi,

 

To connect on Landesk console, I added my Ad account into LANDesk Administrators.

When I try to log on the following message appears:

 

LD.bmp

 

If I do the same operation with an other AD account which have the same rigths it works...

 

In Landesk console, into Administration->User Management->User&Groups menun, there is the local group LANDesk Administrators.

When I check the group properties my user account not appears. If I check on Windows by Server Manager->Local User&Groups it's present.

 

I reset my user profile on the server without success.

 

Do you have anyidea ?

Landesk Management Console on Win8.1 issues

I am having a particularly vexing issue with running the Management console on a machine running windows 8.1.

 

We have a VM running core server 9.6 it is fully licensed and we are able to connect to it on the server itself on machines running Landesk Management Console on Windows 7-64bit . and connecting with no issues at all.

 

After running the install for the management console on Windows 8.1 trying to log in we get the core server you are connecting to does not appear to have a valid license message.

 

We have already re installed the console on the 8.1 machine as well as reactivated the core server but still no joy whereas we are able to connect on all other machine that are required to connect to the server

 

Anyone have anything i might not have tried yet?

After upgrade to Landesk version 9 - Device Status showing not available but they are!!

After a successful upgrad from landesk 8.8 sp3 to version 9, we have noticed one huge problem. When viewing devices in the network tree, the many devices show up as not available or circle with red X on them. However, the devices are available and some of them you can remote control or do whatever you want with them. Some of them cannot be contacted.I'm looking at a lab full of computers right now which every one of the computers is on and I can remote control; however, only 1 of them shows that it's available. I've tried changing refresh rates and Agent Status options, but nothing seems to work. Anyone else see this problem?

Landesk Management Suite 9.5 login failure

I recently upgraded to Management Suite 9.5 because I was getting an error logging in to 9.0 SP3. After the upgrade I still have the same error. I am trying to log into the Management Console on the server itself. I read a couple posts that talk about permissions with the web.config file. I added computer/IIS_IUSRS group to "Read" the web.config files but that didn't help.

 

 

Console Initialization Error:  Client found response content type of 'text/html; charset=utf-8', but expected 'text/xml'.

Cannot uninstall 9.6 console

I upgraded to 9.6, but was forced to roll back to 9.5 SP2 because our workstations are still x86. (Stupid on my part.)

 

I cannot uninstall the 9.6 remote console from my workstation. (It's the only x64 workstation.) I keep getting the following errors. I have uninstalled everything I can from Programs and Features except the console.

 

I need to uninstall the 9.6 console, so I can re-install the 9.5 SP2 console. Any ideas?

Console Initialization Error HTTP Status 405

I am installaing LDMS 9.5 on a test environmemnt core server. Everything has installed well with no errors. However when trying to log on to console for the first time I am getting a login error "Console Initialization Error. The request faileed with HTTP Status 405: Method not allowed"

I am logging in using a local admin account, the same one used to logon to server for installation.

Any Ideas would be welcome.

Scheduled Tasks missing from menu and toolbox

Our techs started noticing that the the "Scheduled Tasks" option is missing from their remote consoles the other day.  I can log in and it's still there for me.  I did some searching and found something about the user layout, but those posts were from several years ago and the "layouts" folder does not seem to be there in 9.5 Sp1.

 

Anyone have any ideas?

Device status after Upgrading to 9.5 SP2 is Sloooooow

I upgraded from 9.5 base to 9.5 SP2 and if I configure Agent status for all Visible items only with or without DNS checked it takes forever for the icons to show up unless I click once on every device in my viewing window.

 

If I select For all selected visible items only with or without Use DNS checked it takes 3 to 10 minutes for the icons to show.

 

My question is I thought this was fixeed in SP2?

Migrating to new CSA. Remote control window will only try via old gateway

my LDMS version is 9.5SP1 in production and 9.6 SP1 in Dev.

 

both systems give the same symptom, and i am not sure if i am just doing something out of order...

 

We have an older CSA that was deployed with 9.5 a few years ago, and as we prepare to migrate to 9.6 we are also updating to a new CSA.  It has been stood up, and connected to both production and Dev.  I have also created test agents that point the client connectivity settings to the new CSA.  however when i attempt to make a connection to the device on the new CSA the connection message shows the URL of the old CSA.  Have i missed some step in using and migrating to the new CSA somewhere??
